Spring Term 2021 During Covid-19

Throughout the lockdown in January and February there were 4 classes in school, two in each key stage. Children of keyworkers and those classed as vulnerable (PP/SEND or lack of educational engagement in summer 2020) were asked to attend full time to ensure continuity of classes in school thereby supporting mental wellbeing and consistency for all involved. The majority of children did, with a few exceptions at Key Stage 2, who went home after lunch on some days.

Work was sent online using Google Classroom at Key Stage 2 and ESchools learning platform for our younger classes. Daily English and maths activities were set along with at least one other curricular activity. Every child was expected to attend at least one Google Meet with their class teach weekly and these often focussed on developing vocabulary and supporting home learning.

Pupils also had access to a number of online resources which were signposted to supplement their learning:

  •          Collins Ebooks – books were allocated dependent on reading ability and interests
  •          Spelling Shed – supported spelling games
  •          Read Theory (KS2) – levelled reading tasks
  •          Doodle Maths – after an initial baseline assessment, maths tasks linked to ability
  •          TT Rockstars (KS2) – times tables practice
  •          Purple Mash – wide selection of curricular activities/tasks
  •          Espresso - wide selection of curricular activities/tasks, including videos
  •          Jasmine PE – to support physical development

Teachers contacted children requiring more support at home to offer advice.

Chrome books were lent to those requiring technical support.
